My husband’s grandfather was William Callister son of William Crellin callister, miner of Jones Creek and Mary Dunlop, previously married to Robert Dunlop who was murdered in the area. William Crellin Callister and Mary Dunlop (previously Guthrie) did finally marry in 1877 but sadly in the following two years they both died. Their children William b 1866 and Edwin b 1870 (but no birth record as yet) were found neglected after the death of their mother in 1879 by a local farmer in a Barkly Street in Dunolly and handed to authorities. The two boys ended up as state wards in Melbourne.
I wonder if there are any local records of them or their parents that may still exist or does anyone know any more about their story. I cannot find a trace of Edwin at all except in state care. No birth, death or other records.
Any suggestions on research would be welcomed.
    Kind regards
    Danae Callister
